Tea cups. Gouache and India Ink on my new Hot Press Illustration Board which I love. Amazing what you can find when you walk down the wrong aisle at the art store.
I love the look of the little tea bag paper hanging out of the cup but in real life I fill up my french press with loose tea [yerba mate, green tea, moroccan mint tea] which I carry around like a security blanket.
I also love coffee shops that have an eclectic collection of mix and match china teacups.
Today’s painting came from a really good impromptu trip to our favorite sushi restaurant.
I love everything about the layout and design of a sushi experience and that they have a bottomless cup of green tea.
Japanese factoid [as told by my Japanese teacher in college...] The tea cups don’t have handles so you can feel if the cup is too hot. If it’s too hot to handle, it’s too hot to drink.
It’s a shame I lost all of my Japanese. I took one year of it and then moved to France. All I remember, appropriately enough is “Sushi o tabimashoo!” [Let's go eat sushi!]
Thoroughly disgusted with the idea of McDonald’s in the Louvre, I came up with this little sketch. I realize it’s an obvious solution but I can’t help but chuckle about the idea of a ‘Drive Thru’ museum. Last time I went to the Louvre it took me eight hours to get through it and I still didn’t see everything. [Click to Enlarge]
